White Sand, Turquoise Water & Golden Sunset : Gili Air

One of our most memorable trip was the trip to Lombok. We witnessed a double rainbow and I had my first snorkeling experience on Gili Air.

We chose Gili Air because it has a good mix of the other 2 islands. There are a few hippy bars similar to those on Gili Trawangan where you could let your hair down and have some fun yet not compromising on peace which Gili Meno possess.

There's a variety of food choices on Gili Air and they were delicious. We could not remember the bar we had our first meal. D had Seafood Aglio with perfectly baked garlic bread. They were thoughtful enough to served the cheese separately so you could add to your own liking. I had a huge teriyaki burger with homemade wedges and garden salad.

It takes about 2 hours to travel one round around Gili Air on foot, which is great for late afternoon strolls to catch the sunset. This interesting hotel, PinkCoco caught our eyes. Everything is in pink! Pink building, pink stairs, pink bicycles, pink canoes. Their staff were dressed in pink as well. I supposed their guests will be in the pink after resting in their rooms. I dare pinky swear that! =)

We booked our snorkeling tour along the way for 10 SGD. That's a reasonable price for a half day trip to 4 snorkeling sites. The downside would be to squeeze with other 18 passengers on the boat. A sumptuous dinner and a romantic movie screening under the stars concluded our first day.

Having breakfast with someone you love and an amazing view of Mt Rinjani in the distant background - what more could you ask for? Even a simple toast and boiled vegetables tasted so good. We enjoyed the sea breeze and small chats before our snorkeling tour.

My first snorkeling experience was amazing. In the beginning, I had troubles with my snorkeling tube (or maybe it was just me) and gulped down lots of sea water. I got pretty nauseous on our way to the second site. Things got better and we managed to swim along side a wild sea turtle.

Our favorite would be the last site where there were more fishes and a fascinating spot where the water was significantly warmer. D love the transition to the warmer side. She's never a fan of cold waters. Sorry, folks. I lost the photos of our snorkeling trip on my GoPro. Fortunately, there are snapshots of it in a video to be shared next post. So stay tune =)

We were very lucky to catch not one but a double rainbow on Gili Air. The rainbows stretches across the sky and lasted for several minutes before transiting to a brilliantly red and orange sunset.

We sat on the cosy bench at Zipp Sunset listening to their live music band and enjoying the sunset. I couldn't forget the delicious "peri peri" sauce I had.

This old school kerosene lamp brings back childhood memories. My dad used to bring my brother and I on fishing trips and we lighted a similar kerosene lamp during the night. I remembered pumping more air into the lamp out of fun and ended up being reprimanded. Those were the good old days.

Next stop, off to Senaru for our next adventures.
